Kieran & Darcey’s Autumn Wedding at East Mersea Hall
Kieran and Darcey’s East Mersea Hall wedding was one of those days that just felt right from start to finish. Full of laughter, brilliant energy, and warm autumn tones, their celebration was relaxed, joyful, and completely true to who they are.
The styling for this wedding was gorgeous – deep greens, rusty oranges, and pumpkins everywhere. Even better, Kieran and Darcey had grown all of the decorative pumpkins themselves, which made everything feel even more personal (and very impressive). East Mersea Hall was the perfect backdrop, with its open grounds and cosy autumn feel.
The morning set the tone beautifully. Darcey did her own hair and makeup, with a little help from her bridesmaids, keeping everything calm and unrushed. Her dress was hanging up ready to go, paired with her very cool bridal Dr Martens underneath.
Kieran arrived with his groomsmen shortly after, and with some help from the lovely Anneka, they got their buttonholes sorted before we took a few relaxed shots of them all ready for the ceremony.
As guests arrived, Lizzie played beautifully on the harp, creating such a warm atmosphere. Then everyone got ready for the main moment. It was a mixture of wholesome (Kieran’s mum did a reading that added an extra layer of meaning), but then there was a very subtle moment of funny.
Then came that moment. When the registrar explained where Kieran needed to place the ring on Darcey’s finger and said, “Just the tip”… the tone shifted slightly. Darcey absolutely cracked up – and honestly, I think her and I laughed the most. You’ll know exactly which photo it is.
We were blessed with beautiful weather for the drinks reception. Guests enjoyed drinks and canapés, the children were straight off playing on the swings, and everything felt easy and joyful. I got the group photos done quickly so everyone could get back to enjoying themselves.
Once Kieran and Darcey had time to chat to guests and grab a drink, we headed off for couple photos around East Mersea Hall. This part was full of laughter – I barely had to direct them. They were just being themselves, which is exactly how I love couple portraits to feel.
The evening energy made itself known quickly once we moved into the pavilion for speeches. One table in particular had started knocking back shots early on, and I made a mental note to keep an eye on them once the dancefloor opened – a very good decision.
After everyone had enjoyed their food, we popped out for some evening photos. Instead of classic romantic boat shots, it was Kieran and his best man who took centre stage, perfectly summing up their friendship. They joked it was actually their wedding and Darcey was the third wheel.
We also grabbed some friends for a super fun sparkler photo – and I’m pleased to report no one caught fire or burnt themselves.
Once the evening really got going, the dancefloor was on another level. The enthusiasm and surprisingly synchronised dancing was impressive, with Darcey right at the centre of it all. I caught Kieran outside doing tequila shots before they headed back in to play games on the Pacman machine – you’ll spot the exact moment Darcey lost.
Kieran and Darcey’s East Mersea Hall wedding was packed with brilliant people, big laughs, and immaculate vibes from start to finish. A truly great day that I loved capturing.
Thank you again to you both for having me there! x
